Hampton Cove History
In 1992, the development of Hampton Cove commenced on what was primarily farmland and county roads. The community was meticulously planned around the construction of a Robert Trent Jones golf facility and the creation of multiple lakes, with its members-only recreation center boasting the largest pool in the state at the time. As the first families settled in, the construction of a Publix shopping center and other commercial developments quickly followed.
In 1996, Hampton Cove Elementary School welcomed its inaugural class of students, and the community later welcomed Hampton Cove Middle School in 2003. As the years went on, more neighborhoods were developed, with the last of the 20 original planned neighborhoods still growing to this day.

Things To Do In Hampton Cove
There are a lot of fun things for you and your family if you live in Hampton Cove. The culinary scene is vibrant and you are sure to find something that meets your desires. Some of my favorite family fun activities are as follows:
Golf Course
Spanning 630 acres of prime land, the Hampton Cove Golf Course is a golfing paradise, enveloped by tall oak, pine, and maple trees, with scenic green mountains and winding lakes providing a picturesque backdrop for golfers in Alabama. Designed by renowned golf architect Robert Trent Jones Sr., the 54-hole championship golf course caters to golfers of all skill levels, with up to five separate tees per hole. All greens adhere to USGA specifications, with Pencross Bent grass on the Highlands Course and Short Course, and Tift Dwarf Bermuda on the River Course. In addition, a practice range and instruction services are also available.
The clubhouse at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course boasts a specially designed pro shop, a dining room, a bar, and meeting rooms, all of which provide panoramic views of Hampton Cove. The full-service restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and after-hours meals, with catering services available for special functions. The rear veranda includes a full wet bar and an outdoor grill, adding to the overall experience.
One of the most recognizable landmarks on the RTJ Trail is visible from Hampton Cove Way - the old mule barn up by the green on the fifth hole of the Highlands Course. This barn serves as a reminder of the area's rural history, adding to the overall charm of the golf course.
Hampton Cove Schools
Hampton Cove has had a lot of steady population growth since it was established. With this growth have come some incredible new schools to accommodate the families that have moved into the area. Hampton Cove Elementary and Goldsmith-Schiffman Elementary schools have been meeting the needs of elementary-age students. These schools are highly rated for their academics. If you have middle school students they will attend Hampton Cove Middle School, and high schoolers will attend Huntsville High School. Both of these schools are also highly rated for their academics and extracurriculars.
