Mixed March Signals

Did we just experience a market dip? February prices averaged about $5,000 less than last February. Before we start blurting the 'R' word - recession, let's look at a few other stats. We saw a noticeable jump in the number of sales. Buyers are back in the market. We have more pending sales than we've had in about a year. The price per square foot is up $3/sqft from a year ago.

So, you ask, why did prices decrease? The rise in interest rates has reduced the buyer's purchasing power. Many buyers are buying smaller homes with lower prices but a higher price per square foot.

The silver lining is that buyers are moving back into the market. Interest rates are holding steady, and buyer confidence is improving. We expect the market to continue heating up this spring. Call if you want to discuss the market or if you're looking to buy or sell.
